How Do I Find Fern Bothy?
Fern Bothy is located in the heart of the newly converted Longniddry Steading, East Lothian. There are several ways to find us:
By Bus/Train & On Foot (North Side)
From Longniddry Main Street, walk between Longniddry Garage and the Accountants. Go under the railway bridge and continue towards the Steading.By Train & On Foot (South Side)
From Longniddry Station (Edinburgh-bound platform), for now you’ll have to cross the railway bridge from the platform and follow the path down into Longniddry Main Street until you reach the Accountants. Then turn left. Follow this path until you reach the Steading.
Once you reach the Steading buildings due to building works you’ll need to follow the buildings around to the right, then turn left into a courtyard. Walk past the central Steading building until you see a small gravel car park and a pedestrian path with a yellow bollard alongside the walled garden entrance. Walk along this path and Fern Bothy is the first building and door on your left.
From Longniddry Village and Places for People
Start at the Pond in the centre of the estate and head down on the west side until you reach the small car park next to the walled garden. From there, follow the pedestrian path when you see the yellow bollard — Fern Bothy is the first building and door on your left.
By Car
From Longniddry: At the traffic lights on the A198, head under the rail bridge and drive up Coal Road, taking the first left.
From Coal Road and A1: As you enter the new Longniddry Village, take the third right.
From here, continue straight on, past the farmhouse entrance until the Steading opens out in front of you. There will be a small gravel car park on your right. Please park in here and walk back out the car park, to your right you’ll see a yellow bollard and pedestrian walkway. Follow this path and Fern Bothy will be your first building on your left.

Tell me a bit about Longniddry Steading?
Longniddry Steading is a large, historic farm complex that has been beautifully restored and adapted by the skilled local team at Reywood Construction. The project was carried out to high environmental standards, transforming these charming, once-redundant listed buildings into a vibrant hub for commercial and creative activity.
Designed to serve both the new neighbourhood and the wider village, the Steading is becoming a lively focal point for connection, convenience, and community life.
Our own Fern Bothy sits suspended over a river that once powered the old mill wheel — which has now been fully restored to working order. On a quiet day, when the river flows and the wheel turns, you can hear the gentle rhythm of it in action — a peaceful reminder of the Steading’s rich history.
How do I know which therapist is right for me?
All of our therapists are highly trained, fully insured, and bring their own unique approach to their practice. We also love to learn from each other, so while we’re influenced by one another’s work, there’s no single prescribed style at Fern Bothy — and that’s part of the beauty.
We encourage you to explore and work with different members of the team to discover what feels best for you. Each therapist brings their own passions and ongoing study of bodywork into their sessions, offering a rich variety of experiences.
You can learn more about each therapist on Our Team page and see who resonates with you. If you’d like more insight or help choosing, please feel free to email us — we’re happy to guide you.
What to expect on arrival for treatments?
Fern Bothy is a peaceful space designed for you to unwind from the everyday hustle and bustle. To help everyone get the most out of their visit, we kindly ask that you follow a few simple guidelines:
Dress comfortably — Wear loose-fitting clothes and avoid eating a large meal right before your appointment.
Arrive on time — Please arrive at your appointment time, not earlier. We need the time between sessions to clean and reset the treatment areas. While we do have a small waiting area, you might find it lovely to take a wander in the walled garden if you arrive early — a perfect way to start switching off.
Waiting to be welcomed — Kindly wait by the front door, even if it’s open. Your therapist will come to welcome you in at your appointment time.
Keep it peaceful — Inside the bothy, please keep your voice low and ensure your phone is on silent. Others may be enjoying their treatments, and we want everyone to experience the calm.
We look forward to welcoming you and hope you find your time at Fern Bothy truly restorative.
